My personal experience filing a claim with my travel insurance company occurred when my daughter suddenly developed a fever and a sore throat just hours before her 8th grade trip to Costa Rica. Her sudden illness required us to cancel her travel plans. After immediately consulting with her pediatrician regarding her diagnosis and treatment and requesting a letter of verification, I submitted an insurance claim. After my claim was properly submitted and all of the receipts and documentation were reviewed, my claim was successfully paid! Unfortunately, however, the review process took several months to finalize, but the system worked!
